Visit the Ziggurat introduces students to the Mesopotamian Ziggurat with a travel advertisement from ancient Sumer. Students will examine the author’s use of figurative language and content-specific vocabulary. After reading, students will be able to describe in writing why the Sumerians built the Great Ziggurat of Ur.
